On episode #2481 of The Joe Rogan Experience featuring comedian Duncan Trussell, Joe Rogan stated that the biblical promise of the meek inheriting the earth may not be a moral aspiration but a literal prediction playing out in real time.
Rogan opened the line of thinking with a challenge to conventional interpretation. “What if the meek will inherit the earth? What if we misinterpreted that?” he said. “What if we thought like it’s good to be meek. They’ll inherit the earth. They’re the kind. There’s something about the word meek.”
He then connected the ancient text directly to modern technology and the people building it. “That’s the nerds, okay? And they are doing it. They are inheriting the earth right in front of your face and everybody’s signing up for it,” he said.
Rogan expanded on who these people are, describing a particular kind of tech engineer who dominates the current era. He noted, “You’ve got these spectrumy super genius dudes that talk in a language that 99.9% of the people can’t even understand what they’re talking about.”
He continued, “A lot of guys that spend time in front of the computer, they’re very thin and tired, you know? They’re super genius dudes that can like fully focus.”
When describing the profile of male behavior he was drawing, Rogan was deliberate in distinguishing tech builders from more physically dominant types.
“If you looked at like a spectrum of male behavior, they’re not like football players and UFC athletes and then you’ve got coders,” he stated. “Dudes are like more way more chill, way more like they’re not interested in violence. I mean, I’m completely generalizing, right? Because I’m sure there’s a bunch of jacked guys that are coders.”
Rogan went on to say, “And then you’ve got all these like wild progressive leftist ideologies that are attached to all these places which make you even meeker. And then they’re the guys with all the money. They’re the guys with all the money. And then they can literally tell you what you can and can’t say on YouTube.”
The pair returned to the theme later when discussing how future generations might describe this era. Rogan posed the question directly: “How do you explain the meek will inherit the earth?”
He then framed it as a matter of historical honesty. He stated, “Wouldn’t you write that? You wouldn’t say the Vikings will inherit the earth. You wouldn’t say the strong men from Iceland inherit the earth. They’re the biggest, strongest men. No, it’s the meek. The meek.”
Rogan then completed the thought by saying, “The super smart guys who have autism. And they love Adderall and ketamine.”
