In a lighthearted moment during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, host Joe Rogan discovered something surprising about his guest, WWE legend John Cena. He actually read the release form before signing it.
When Cena mentioned that he had read the show’s release paper, Rogan immediately responded with amazement. “You might be the only person,” Rogan said, noting that whoever handed Cena the form had made the same observation.
The person who gave him the document apparently told Cena, “I think you might be the only person that’s ever read it.”
Cena’s reasoning for reading the legal document was characteristically thoughtful and rooted in his past experiences. “Man, if you’re gonna take liberties with me, at least I want to be able to read that you are,” he explained.
While admitting he’s not perfect about reviewing every document he signs, Cena said his approach was simple: “I was handed a release. I’m like, ‘Man, can I just glance this over for a second?’ Oh, this says what I think it says. Okay, let’s go.”
Rogan even joked that President Donald Trump, who had previously appeared on the podcast, didn’t read it either. “Trump didn’t even read it. Just signed,” Rogan quipped, to which Cena diplomatically replied, “To each their own.”
During the conversation, Cena also surprised Rogan by sharing that he avoids taking pain medication at all costs. Cena told Rogan that even during major medical procedures — including neck fusion surgery and multiple muscle reattachments — he refused to take the prescribed pills.
Throughout the three-hour conversation, the 16-time WWE Champion repeatedly emphasized themes of accountability, professionalism, and learning from mistakes.
