Joe Rogan goes viral for believing Matt Watson vs Dad boxing bout was real

Joe Rogan has become a household name after taking a monumental deal with spotify and cashing in over $200 million. This effectively made him an A list celebrity and elevated his status from podcaster, comedian, and UFC host to a whole new level.

This new level of infamy invited a lot of scrutiny which actually produced some incredibly funny situations.

Rogan’s latest flub involves the time he recounted feeling ‘so sad’ after watching a boxing match between Matt Watson and his dad at Creator Clash 2022.

Creator Clash was a pop-boxing event featuring a number of content creators that was held in May of 2022. The event was the first of its kind and unlike many other events, it had a noble cause attached it was designed to raise money for charity.

The event ended up raking in $1.3 million dollars for the American Heart association, the Alzheimer’s Association of America, and the Healing Horse Therapy Center. It became one of the most popular influencer boxing events of the year, with another on the way in 2023.

One of the popular match ups featured on the card was a bout between youtubers ‘Matt Watson and ‘Dad’. The Dad was ahead the whole time and ended up winning via TKO in the first round of the contest.

Now what Rogan was entirely unaware of, is that both Watson and ‘Dad’ are comedic youtubers and not an actual father and son duo.

Rogan was so upset at this matchmaking he went on a long tirade.

For those unfamiliar with Rogan, the episodes in which he wears NASA looking suits usually feature comedian friends Duncan Trussell and/or Brian Redban and tend to be along the absurd line. Rogan is more than likely emotionally with the help of some pot in the clip attached.

He went on to say during a recent episode of the Joe Rogan podcast,:

“I grew up without my dad. So for me, I was like, his dad was probably an a**hole. His dad’s proud. Jealous dad was probably just some terrible, terrible people that f**k people and have kids, murderers, monsters, thieves, con artists. They f**k people and have kids and then they have a son. I saw a video today of a boxing match between a father and a son.”

“It made me so sad. Made me so sad because there’s this young kid, he looks like he’s probably like 17 or 18 and the father’s 42 and the father beats the s**t out of him. I mean, like, dinged him in the head and keeps punching him. I’m like, that’s your son. That’s your son. And we’re watching you beat your son up because I get your son probably got cocky with you, but and he celebrates after he knocks his son out.”

“It made me so sad because, first of all, I’m like that kid has brain damage now 100%. Maybe it’s just a little. Maybe he’ll be fine. Maybe he’ll get over it. But maybe you f**ked him up. That can happen, too. He might be depressed from now on. After that, it might f**k up his pituitary gland. It happens to people.”

Rogan is unusually vulnerable here. This is likely due to the fact he does not have any kind of relationship with his own father and was in fact raised by his step-dad.

Matt Watson- the youtuber featured in the event took the clip in stride and shared the following edit.

Young Jamie (Rogan’s producer) was quick to inform Rogan he got clickbaited.  Rogan was a good sport about it, admitting that he was “such a sucker” for believing the clickbait.
