Joe Rogan: Do biological men belong in women’s sports?

In a podcast episode with Aaron Rodgers, Joe Rogan shared strong opinions about transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, arguing that biological differences create unfair advantages.

“Let’s stop pretending that these males that identify as women who win don’t have a giant advantage,” Rogan stated during the conversation. He claimed that “700 women were robbed of gold medals across various sports” due to competition from transgender athletes.

Rogan emphasized that women should be “protected and only have to compete against other actual biological women.”

During the exchange, Rogan highlighted what he sees as inconsistencies in sports policies. He pointed to the situation where transgender men are permitted to take testosterone as part of their transition, while the same substance is prohibited for other athletes.

“You get like a 39-year-old athlete with low testosterone – you won’t let him take it. But you let a woman take it to become a man,” Rogan said, expressing frustration with what he perceives as contradictory standards.

The podcast conversation also touched on the biological basis of sex differences. “Chromosomes, that’s it – double X and XY,” Rogan stated, suggesting that these fundamental genetic differences should guide sports categorization.

Rogan defended his position against accusations of prejudice, saying, “The idea that that’s bigoted is so crazy when there’s a demonstrable effect.” He argued that the advantage of transgender women athletes is clearly observable in competitive outcomes.

The commentator also criticized those who question his stance while being unable to provide clear definitions, noting that people questioning whether transgender athletes have advantages “can’t even define what a woman is.”
