Jiri Prochazka wants to rematch Glover Teixeira as soon as possible

The newly crowned light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka revealed his desire to have a rematch with Glover Teixeira. He recently called out the former champion on his social media account.

Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira had one of the most exciting bouts in 2022. The pair clashed back in June headlining UFC 275. It was such a close duel that kept UFC fans glued to their chairs.

At the age of 42, Glover Teixeira managed to hold off Prochazka with his phenomenal jiu jitsu technique and was leading by all accounts until he opted to dive for a guillotine. The pair clashed for almost 5 rounds. However, with a few seconds left, Prochazka managed to submit the Brazilian with a rear-naked choke.

Given how close the match was, a lot of fans yearn to see the pair tussle again. Prochazka should be facing former champion Jan Blachowicz for his next outing. However, the 29-year-old Czech still couldn’t get over Teixeira.

Jiri Prochazka campaigned to run it back with Glover Teixeira. Yesterday, ‘Denisa’ took to his Twitter account to post a video of himself calling out Teixeira.

” And I will show you why I’m the champion. And I think Glover deserves it. So, here is the offer. I will show you why I’m the champion.” Prochazka said in the video.

Glover Teixeira himself obviously wants to get his title back. During the build up for the bout, Teixeira was contemplating his retirement. However, after such a loss, he is now fired up again and demanded a rematch.

“Very motivated. I want to get back there right away. I want a rematch right away. It’s one of those things like, ‘Man, I can do it. I could do it. How did I let it slip away? So I guess maybe that’s what it is. I’m motivated to get back there and win the belt.” Teixeira told MMA Junkie.
