Jake Paul recently delivered a message about the landscape of boxing promotion. He stated that social media has become an indispensable tool for modern boxers.
Speaking at the WBO convention, Paul praised the organization’s efforts, stating “Shout out to Gustavo and the WBO. I love events like this. They’re so helpful for the boxing community.”
“Social media is the future of boxing, branding for fighters, getting yourself out there,” Paul declared, highlighting what he sees as a critical gap in traditional promotional strategies. He pointed to his own promotional company, MVP, as evidence of this approach’s effectiveness, noting that “A lot of promoters aren’t good at promoting anymore in the traditional sense, which is why MVP has done such a good job, because we are social media first.”
Paul’s argument rests on a simple observation about modern consumer behavior. “Everyone is on their phone at all times, scrolling all day long, you have to be in front of them,” he explained, urging fighters to recognize where their potential audience actually spends their time.
The entrepreneur-turned-boxer stressed that success in the digital realm requires the same dedication athletes bring to their physical training. “You have to take it seriously, almost as seriously as you’re taking boxing, the same time you put into the gym should be also how much time you’re putting into your content,” Paul advised.
His recommendations extended beyond simply posting content to actively studying and creating engaging material. “Content, you watch content, you see viral videos all the time. So make your own versions of it, film yourself training, put more effort into it,” he suggested.
Paul emphasized the importance of authenticity and personality in building a following. “Be loud, be proud, have a personality, tell the world who you are and tell your story,” he urged, suggesting that boxers often need to become their own promoters to achieve success.
The message concluded with Paul positioning social media mastery as essential not just for individual success, but for the sport’s growth overall. “Boxing is counting on you to do it and to grow the sport and for you to grow your own brand. And to become one of the biggest fighters in the world,” he stated.
“You guys can do it. Seriously, believe in yourself,” concluded Jake Paul.
