Jake Paul praises Conor McGregor after UFC return announcement

Despite their continuing feud, Jake Paul has acknowledged that Conor McGregor’s UFC comeback bout is “massive.”

When McGregor competes against Michael Chandler later this year, he will be attempting to earn his first victory in more than three years. The opponents will face off in the cage after the conclusion the 31st season of TUF in August.

McGregor hasn’t won in the Octagon since knocking out Donald Cerrone in January 2020. Then he lost to Dustin Poirier twice in a row. Chandler has a record 1-3 in his previous four. However, YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul still believes the bout between the UFC rivals is a big event.

Paul tweeted, “Boxing fans should learn from MMA fans to support fighters. McGregor is 1-3 in his last four fights. Choked out, knocked out. His opponent is 1-3 in his last four fights, knocked out and choked out. But it’s a massive fight and the fans don’t care one bit.”

This is kind of hilarious and shows how shallow Paul’s knowledge of MMA is. MMA fans are known to turn on a dime. Rose Namajunas went from a fanfavorite to a favorite to troll in 25 minutes of an incredibly mediocre performance. Israel Adesanya suffered a similar fate.

Since making his UFC debut, Chandler has been clamoring to face McGregor. The former Bellator champion has struggled to win consistently in the organization. However, he has only faced top-tier competition and suffered defeats to Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, and Dustin Poirier.

Since giving up his online fame for a career in the ring, Paul has been challenging UFC stars like McGregor and Jorge Masvidal to a match. McGregor has maintained he doesn’t care about the new generation of crossover boxing. It seems that he has effectively ruled out the possibility of facing Paul in the future.

Paul was recently called a “wally” by McGregor for joining the PFL. He called the American an idiot for agreeing to the terms of the MMA promotion.

McGregor wrote in a former tweet: “Numbnuts gave away fifty per cent of his future purse if he does an MMA fight. Wow what an idiot. Joint partnership what? For what you wally. Wally.”
