Jake Paul picks Hasim Rahman Jr to replace Tommy Fury

Hasim Rahman Jr. is the son of the legend, Hashim Rahman. He has shot to the top of Jake Paul’s shortlist of potential opponents to take Tommy Fury’s spot.

The former YouTuber-turned-boxer has given Fury till tomorrow morning to demonstrate that he can get to America in time for their bout on August 6. If that condition is not satisfied, he will be replaced by one of the three boxers on the shortlist, with Hasim Rahman Paul’s son being a perfect choice.

Jake Paul has been working out for months in preparation for his first matchup with Tommy Fury. But days before their arranged press appearance last week, Fury was refused passage to his aircraft to New York.

According to Mirror Fighting, Rahman is Paul’s first option to take the position of the Love Island runner-up.

Rahman Jr.’s links to a heavyweight champion give him the reputation of a “real fighter.” He would make him an ideal match for the Paul vs. Fury marketing strategy.

Rahman Jr. has a 12-1 professional record and has defeated three opponents with winning records. As an amateur, he also defeated former heavyweight world champion, Trevor Bryan.

On paper, he could seem to be a harder opponent than Tommy Fury. On Instagram, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions have been hinting at a new opponent. They said: “Let’s see how fans react to Jake Paul’s opponent for his sixth pro fight.”

Rahman’s brother Sharif is a professional with a 6-0 record. He has teased followers about the news on social media. Sharif has made many comments that strongly suggest Rahman will get the shot. He joked that the opponent is a heavyweight and is only a little over 30 years old.

Rahman and Paul had previously exchanged polite words. They had also sparred when Paul was getting ready for his second professional bout against Nate Robinson.
