Jake Paul is betting on Nate Diaz to beat “fake Khabib” Chimaev

Nate Diaz might get what he asked for after all. The longtime UFC fanfavorite will become a free agent after his bout with Khamzat Chimaev. Jake Paul recently decided to bank on Diaz bets.

Diaz has been fervently seeking a way out of his contract. According to ESPN.com, the cherished veteran is speeding toward a matchup with Chimaev. The bout is verbally agreed on. During UFC Long Island presser White explained that Chimaev has been having visa issues.

The pair will square off in the welterweight bout as the main event of the upcoming UFC 279 card. UFC 279 is booked for September 10, the match is planned to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

Jake Paul has voiced a great deal of confidence in the veteran to win. Paul just posted on social media with his opinion on the impending bout. He predicted the outcome of the bout and labeled Khamzat Chimaev a “fake Khabib.”

“Betr believe I’m putting my money on Nate Diaz to win versus fake Khabib.”

Shortly after learning that Chimaev and Diaz would be officially on, Chimaev issued a statement outlining his strategy for dealing with Diaz in the cage.

Khamzat Chimaev has the following to say on the subject:

“I am going to handle Nate Diaz’s funeral.”

The most recent time Diaz competed was in a welterweight contest at UFC 263 in June 2021 against Leon Edwards. He lost the match by unanimous decision.

The defeat against Edwards was preceded by a defeat to Jorge Masvidal by TKO at UFC 244. Diaz has suffered a string of defeats in his most recent appearances inside the cage and has a record of 2-3 in his previous five UFC bouts. UFC was unwilling to let him out of his contract initially with the promotion gearing towards a trilogy with Conor McGregor, that Diaz said he was uninterested in.
