Islam Makhachev downplayed Charles Oliveira’s wins while bragging about Moises and Dober victories

Islam Makhachev is one of those lightweight contenders who have yet to prove themselves. Despite what Nurmagomedov would have you believe, Makhachev has yet to up go against someone with a proven record.

In his last five, Makhachev won against Bobby Green (unranked), Dan Hooker(1-4) , Thiago Moises (then ranked #15) and Drew Dober. Yet Makhachev feels it’s appropriate to criticize Charles Oliveira.

” Some like people say he beat like tough guy. How, let’s see, he’s like, win streak. He beat for the title fight like Kevin Lee with five losers is his last five. He beat Chandler who have just one fight in UFC, who he beat Tony, Tony’s primetime is finished – three to five years ago. ”

“And other other opponents nobody knows. ”

“But I beat Drew Dober, He’s young. He’s very good striking I beat Arman Tsarukyan, I beat Moises who had good wins”

Makhachev fails to mention he actually went to a decision with the last pro jiu jitsu guy he faced – Davi Ramos.

Makhachev went on to add:

“We don’t have a champion,” Makhachev told ESPN. “Charles is a contender. That’s why it’s going to be for the title. I deserve it. I have a 10-fight win streak. [Oliveira] said I don’t deserve this, but he’s asking about Nate Diaz and Conor [McGregor].

“I think Charles is a No. 1 contender now. We don’t have a champion because he don’t make weight. He is not a professional.”

Meanwhile his manager started lobbying for Makhachev Dariush title bout.
