Is the UFC trying to kill Mike Jackson? Once brought for CM Punk, now matched with KO artist 12 years younger than him

Mike Jackson was signed to the UFC for the sole purpose of giving CM Punk an opponent with similar experience. But despite the fact CM Punk is long gone, Jackson is still clinging to his spot on the UFC roster . He scored a surprise win via DQ earlier this year – but we’ll be seeing him in the cage soon.

Mike Jackson’s most recent ‘victory’ definitely came as a surprise with the bookmakers rating  his chances of victory at +800. Jackson was matched with Dean Barry who delivered a spinning back kick to the groin and one of worst eye gouges we’ve seen in recent history.

Jackson was reluctant to continue and the referee made the call to declare Jackson the winner by DQ. UFC typically frowns upon this type of behavior so it’s all the more surprising Jackson wasn’t cut.

Jackson has limited experience dating back to 2016. His professional record stands at one loss, one no contest and a single DQ victory.

UFC seems determined to squeeze out every bit of worth from each athlete – so it’s no surprise they matched 37 year old Jackson with a 25 year old Pete Rodriguez whose records stands at 4-1 with 4 KO victories.

It looks like the odds are once again stacked against Jackson.

His opponent is looking to bounce back from a loss from his UFC debut against a proven opponent – Jack Della Magdalena.

So far, the card currently doesn’t have a location or venue announced yet. Fans on Twitter are left baffled as to why Jackson is even still in the UFC while those on Reddit are mostly saying he’s the GOAT (Greatest of all time).

While it looks like Pete Rodriguez got himself an easy matchup, but who knows, anything could happen once the octagon doors are closed.
