Popular gaming content creator and Twitch personality Asmongold recently opened up about a personal revelation that quickly became an unexpected public health message: years of neglecting his oral hygiene have, by his own account, physically transformed his face to the point where fans say he resembles a rodent.
The admission came during a recent broadcast when Asmongold reacted to an old photo of himself posted on X. The image prompted fans to note how dramatically different he looked, a comparison the creator was quick to explain in candid and somewhat unsettling detail.
“The reason why is that it changes your facial structure in two different ways,” Asmongold told his audience. “When you lose teeth, the bone mass of your jaw deteriorates and it gets smaller. So because the bone mass gets smaller, obviously it’s going to make your face look different.”
Jaw shrinkage, however, was only half the story. The other factor, he explained, was the way tooth loss fundamentally altered how he chews.
“I fundamentally had a different facial structure, because now I can only eat with my front teeth and I don’t have any back teeth. Back then, my jawline was a lot more defined, because I was using my jaws. Now, I only eat with my front teeth like a rat, which is the reason why people say I look like a rat.”
For longtime followers of the creator, his chaotic lifestyle is already the stuff of internet legend. From the notorious state of his living space to a famously relaxed approach to personal upkeep, Asmongold has leaned into his reputation for years. But hearing him trace the physical consequences of ignoring dental care back to his own face landed differently with his community.
He wrapped the confession with a blunt message he clearly wanted to stick: “Moral of the story, brush your f**king teeth. You don’t want to end up like that.”
Despite the urgency of that warning, his own habits have not exactly caught up to his advice. During the same broadcast, he casually revealed that when a tooth cracked and began cutting into his tongue, his solution bypassed the dentist’s office entirely.
“So what did I do? I did the logical thing. I went to my dad’s house, and I got some sandpaper. I got a file, a metal file. I took care of it. That was last night.”
The reaction online was swift, split fairly evenly between amusement and genuine concern. It was not the first time Asmongold had confronted his dental history in public.
Earlier this year, the creator disclosed spending $7,000 on extensive dental procedures to address what he described as “rotting” teeth, a costly intervention that illustrated just how serious the years of neglect had become.
On a more positive note, his personal life has seen some changes recently. His new girlfriend, Kaise, has reportedly encouraged him to take better care of himself, nudging him toward more regular bathing and a cleaner living space.
