Thiago Moises has been hanging on on the bottom of the UFC rankings. Moises was looking to snap a two fight losing streak – and hopefully not get cut when he faced Christos Giagos at the UFC Vegas 57 event in Las Vegas.
Moises had lost to Makhachev and Joel Alvarez. Giagos had last lost to Arman Tsarukyan, who was headlining the card.
From the get go, Moises wanted to play on his jiu jitsu advantages. Moises took the back of Giagos after a single leg takedown. Even though he was initially a bit high, he was able to adjust and hang on to the back control. At this point he focues on hetting the arm under the chin.
Moises used a shoulder to lock up the rear-naked choke, getting the tap in round one.
