Highlights! Ryan Garcia KOs Javier Fortuna, calls out Gervonta Davis

Boxing superstar Ryan Garcia knocked out Javier Fortuna in the sixth round, showcasing his knockout prowess once again.

When Ryan Garcia entered the ring, Javier Fortuna vowed to show that Garcia was overrated. However, Fortuna’s foresight proved to be inadequate. Garcia controlled the fight from the start and shocked the spectators.

At the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Garcia submitted the 33-year-old former WBA super-featherweight champion three times. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Garci used a body shot and a check hook to knock Fortuna to the ground.

Then in the sixth round, he ended the match with a devastating left hook to the head that made Fortuna take a knee. Fortuna spat out his gumshield on the deck after failing to beat the ten-count.

Fortuna had requested that the bout be held at super lightweight even though both boxers typically perform at lightweight. Garcia made it plain after the fight that he would not be moving back to the lightweight class since he felt so at ease there.

The 23-year-old Garcia brought his perfect record to 23-0 with 19 KO victories. He then turned his focus to fellow countryman Gervonta Davis. Garcia argued that Davis must fight him at 140 pounds despite his desire to have a match against the WBA lightweight champion.

Following his triumph, Garcia said to Dazn: “I felt way better (fighting at 140). I’m not going back down to 135 for nothing, but I will fight Tank next, if Tank wants that at 140.”

“That fight is going to give me the respect I deserve. I’m never afraid, I have a spirit of competition in me, and you’re going to see that come out when I fight Tank and whoop his ass.”

Regarding his performance with Fortuna, he continued: “I was crisp. I was sharp. I know how good a fighter I am. I just had to put it all together and you saw it come together today.”
