High Probability of Georges St. Pierre Grappling Khabib at Eagle FC

A dream match up between Georges St-Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov might never happen in the octagon, but it seems that there’s still hope for fans to see them face  each other as a part of a  grappling match.

According to Eagle FC president Shamil Zavurov, there’s a high possibility for a grappling showdown between the former UFC champions.

“I think that nothing prevents this fight from being held in Miami. Khabib is always in shape. I follow Saint-Pierre on Instagram and I see that he is always in shape, training. Khabib is such a sports fan that he keeps himself in shape all the time. Nothing prevents a fight between them. It would be interesting. It would be possible to organize this fight at one of the EFC tournaments in the USA,”

The dream fight was previously offered to Nurmagomedov by the UFC president Dana White following his last fight against Justin ‘The Highlights’ Gaethje back in October 2020.

But Nurmagomedov refused the offer and keep insisting that he’s retired for good.

‘The Eagle’ retired during his prime leaving a perfect 29-0 record intact following the death of his father. It was later revealed that he made a vow to his mother that he won’t be fighting anymore.

St-Pierre has been away from competition longer. ‘Rush’ last fought at UFC 217 back in November 2017.  St-Pierre snatched the UFC middleweight belt from champion Michael Bisping with a 3rd round submission.

With both fighters’ having solid wrestling/grappling base it will be very interesting to see. While many believe that UFC contracts allow for grappling matches – usually it requires seeking out a special permission.
