Former MMA star and actress Gina Carano has been putting in serious work at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas. Coach John Wood confirmed her presence at the gym and hinted at opportunities being discussed for the female icon.
“Yeah, she’s here every day,” Wood told during a recent interview at the Las Vegas facility. “She’s back in the mix. She’s back training every day. We spent the first couple months kind of getting her back in shape. She’s jumped in now and working with the pros and practices and stuff.”
When pressed about whether a comeback is actually possible, Wood remained cautiously optimistic while acknowledging ongoing discussions.
“I think that she has a, you know, this coming back and training has lit a fire under her a**,” he explained. “I think that there’s some things that are potentially on the table, and I think that, you know, that might be explored.”
The coach also talked about Carano’s dedication to her training regimen. “Who knows what’s going to happen. She’s been out of the game for a while, but I know that she’s got that fire and I know that she’s in here training like a bat out of h*ll every day,” Wood said.
While Wood did provide specific details about potential matchups or promotional agreements, he did indicate a possibility of Carano making a comeback.
Carano, who gained fame in both Strikeforce and through her acting career in projects like The Mandalorian, remains one of the most recognizable names in women’s MMA history. Her rivalry with Ronda Rousey was one of the sport’s most anticipated matchups that never materialized.
