Georges St-Pierre would compete against Khabib in grappling but only under one condition

Georges St-Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov are amicable. St-Pierre was a longtime favorite of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. This is why there were often talks about GSP unretiring to face Nurmagomedov in the UFC.

But Nurmagomedov is determined to stay retired – and isn’t really interested in any kind of competition. He’s working on the business side of mixed martial arts.

Meanwhile Georges St Pierre is 40 year old – and he’s done with MMA. And not only that he’s rumored to be in a UFC contract for at least another year. Recently St-Pierre answered what it would take to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in a grappling event.

“If it’s well-organized… if there’s some event that is well-organized, that is a novelty fight, something good, maybe, why not? I’m still in the entertainment world, I’m in great shape. I still train like a professional athlete. I still get it,” St-Pierre told James Lynch.

“Even some of the guys sometimes, they tell me, ‘Hey, are you preparing a comeback?’ I’m like, ‘No, I’m 40 years old. I’m done.’ I like to stay in there and keep my head in the game.”

Eagle FC president Shamil Zavurov said there’s a high possibility for a grappling showdown between the former UFC champions back in February.

“I think that nothing prevents this fight from being held in Miami. Khabib is always in shape. I follow Saint-Pierre on Instagram and I see that he is always in shape, training. Khabib is such a sports fan that he keeps himself in shape all the time. Nothing prevents a fight between them. It would be interesting. It would be possible to organize this fight at one of the EFC tournaments in the USA,”

Nurmagomedov was quick to dismiss the rumors coming from his own camp.

“I don’t see the point of it. You can, of course, add fuel to the fire. Say something… But I don’t want to. I don’t want to promote this topic. “Oh I could return in Eagle FC” – I don’t want to make it. I want to make publicity for the league in another format. I don’t think that i’ll return, (to) wrestle with someone.”
