Francis Ngannou calls out Deontay Wilder after his recent free agency announcement

Deontay Wilder recently declared his intention to enter the free agent pool. Now Francis Ngannou has issued a challenge to the former WBC heavyweight champion. Ngannou says that he’s ready and eager to face Wilder.

Wilder has said that he will have more influence over his professional boxing career going forward.

Previously, Wilder has made it clear that he would want to compete against Francis Ngannou in both the boxing ring and the mixed martial arts octagon. Wilder’s bold challenge suggests that he is ready to go outside of his comfort zone and challenge the former UFC heavyweight champion.

On the other hand, Ngannou has made it clear that he is determined to fulfil his ambition of becoming a professional boxer. He tweeted:

“Welcome to the free world Bronze bomber. I hope you’re the man of your word. See you soon.”

Francis Ngannou has drawn the attention of several combat sports organizations after becoming a free agent, including all major MMA promotions and BKFC.

Moreover, a number of boxers have publicly stated their desire to face off against Ngannou in the ring. The two most well-known to do so are the current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Francis Ngannou’s decision to leave the UFC has Israel Adesanya’s unequivocal backing. He believes Ngannou made the right choice when he decided against signing a contract extension with the UFC and instead chose to enter free agency, which required giving up his heavyweight championship.

Adesanya stated: “Francis made the right call. He’s the one that kicked in the door. We’ve all been behind him. We’ve been saying this for how long? If you guys go back on the tapes, I’ve been saying the same thing. I’m not going to harp on about it, but he’s right. It’s little things. He’s asking for things that should be mandatory.”

Ngannou and Wilder have previously met at a training facility – and the picture from the encounter went viral due to bicep size disparity between the two.

The two were cordial during the meeting and there was even video of them greeting each other.

Wilder previously made comments that he wouldn’t do well in the UFC and has been a fan of the UFC Performance institute.
