Francis Ngannou: Adesanya Is A Better Version Of Ciryl Gane

Francis Ngannou is prepping for his title unification bout. The Cameroonian Champion is displeased with how UFC has been treating him – from stalling contract negotiations to booking an interim championship less than 6 months after he’d won the title.

In many ways MMA Factory’s Cyril Gane is the antithesis of Ngannou – for one Gane seems a lot more technical. He doesn’t move like a heavyweight and he also isn’t afraid to mix it up. Just remember how he submitted an opponent with a heel hook just before the buzzer!

But Ngannou doesn’t believe beating former teammate Cyril Gane is a feat to accomplish – in part because they’ve trained together and in part because he considers him a shadow version of another UFC fighter – Israel Adesanya.

On his YouTube channel, Ngannou explained:

“He’s (Adesanya) a great guy, the best striker in the game, definitely,” said Ngannou. “Because when you look at his style, he just does everything that Ciryl does but in a better way.”

“By the way, I (tried) to get him for this training camp, but travel restrictions with New Zealand wasn’t really helpful for us,” said Ngannou “But he would have loved to come here and help me for the striking part of the game, the footwork and everything.”

Ngannou also recently shared outtakes from his Fight camp to face Gane.

Francis Ngannou fights Cyril Gane on January 23rd at UFC 270. Gane is 10-0 in his MMA career while Ngannou has 16 wins and 3 losses. Gane is 31 years old – Ngannou is 4 years his senior. Currently Ngannou is an Underdog at most places – Cyril Gane is – betting favorite.
