UFC star Taila Santos is facing ridicule online after claiming she accidentally took her husband’s anabolic st**oids following a failed PED test that resulted in a suspension.
According to sources, Santos tested positive for two banned PEDs: clenbuterol and oxandrolone. Her explanation was that her husband is a bodybuilder who uses anabolic steroids, and because they source their supplements from the same place, she mistakenly grabbed one of his while the two were rushing to training.
She stated, “My husband is a bodybuilder so he uses anabolic steroids. We were rushing to go train and we get all our compounded supplements from the same place. In the rush, I ended up taking one of his by mistake.”
Critics quickly questioned the logic behind the explanation. Many pointed out that if both athletes are getting their products from the same supplier, it raises concerns about why PEDs and standard supplements would even be stored or distributed together.
Others argued it is difficult to believe anabolic steroids would realistically be confused with everyday supplements like creatine or vitamins.
Questions were also raised about oxandrolone specifically, one of the PEDs Santos tested positive for. Oxandrolone, commonly known as Anavar, is an oral anabolic st**oid and a synthetic derivative of dihydrotestosterone.
While some people suggested accidentally taking an oral st**oid is more believable than mistakenly injecting something, critics argued that these compounds typically come in clearly labeled tablets or capsules that are hard to confuse with ordinary supplements.
The second flagged PED, clenbuterol, is a beta-2 adrenergic agonist often used to increase thermogenic rate and endurance, particularly by athletes attempting to cut weight before competition.
Despite the seriousness of the failed test, Santos received only a six-month suspension.
The general reaction online has been overwhelmingly skeptical, with many fans and commentators believing the accidental mix-up explanation simply does not hold up under scrutiny.
