Former UFC star and podcast host Brendan Schaub was recently ejected from his son’s Little League baseball game in what witnesses describe as a heated confrontation with an umpire.
Footage of the incident, which emerged on the Fighter and the Kid subreddit, shows Schaub coaching at first base when tensions began to escalate. The situation unfolded after one of the children on Schaub’s team struck out, prompting what appears to be an initial verbal exchange between Schaub and the umpire.
“Hey, that’s a warning, coach. That’s the warning,” the umpire can be heard saying in the video, clearly attempting to defuse the situation before it escalated further.
The confrontation reached its breaking point during the very next play when Schaub’s son, wearing jersey number 11, was at bat. When another player, identified as LT Gray, was called out while sliding into home plate, Schaub reportedly called it a “garbage call,” triggering his immediate ejection from the game.
In the footage, Schaub appears momentarily stunned by the ejection before approaching the umpire to protest the decision. Witnesses report hearing explicit language during this exchange, with Schaub allegedly telling the umpire to “get the [expletive] out of here” as he walked away, causing audible reactions from parents in the stands.
The incident stands in stark contrast to Schaub’s recent comments on the Golden Hour podcast with Eric Griffin and Chris Deia, where he criticized other baseball parents for similar behavior.
“I’ll call the dads out though. Like this one day I kept yelling at his at his son who’s on our team. Yeah, throw the ball harder. I went, ‘But let me talk. You think he’s not trying to throw hard. What are you doing, dude? You’re putting more stress on him. Like, let him do his thing, dude,'” Schaub stated on the podcast.
This isn’t the first time Schaub has admitted to controversial behavior at children’s baseball games. On a previous podcast appearance, he confessed to using explicit language at games, saying, “I can’t sit with like the rest of the parents right behind the batters box there because I yell and um I get pretty passionate about the game. Nailed out a cuss word. Super embarrassing.”
Even more controversially, Schaub has previously discussed encouraging his son to “fat shame” opponents, stating, “If this fat kid, slow fat kid, gets a hit off you, this isn’t for you.”
The ejection has sparked significant online discussion about appropriate sideline behavior for parents at youth sporting events, with many viewers expressing satisfaction at seeing what they describe as accountability for overly aggressive coaching tactics in children’s sports.
It’s also interesting to observe yet another pivot from Schaub. Schaub has a history of pivots, and while it seemed like he was failing up for a while things have been on a downturn ever since he was let go by Showtime. Brendan Schaub’s professional journey resembles a pinball machine of ambition ricocheting between vastly different career paths, each rebounding from the previous with diminishing success. His initial pivot from NFL prospect (where he never secured a regular season roster spot) led him to the UFC heavyweight division, where his 10-5 record culminated in a series of knockout losses and a notorious “career intervention” from Joe Rogan. This launched his comedy and podcasting career, despite widespread criticism of his stand-up abilities and frequent malapropisms. As his entertainment ventures faltered amid controversy and declining viewership, Schaub briefly embraced mountain biking, only to abandon it for an equally fleeting obsession with muscle cars. His most recent reinvention as a self-proclaimed “baseball dad” appears to follow his established pattern: adopting a new identity after struggling to find sustainable success in his previous endeavor, perpetually chasing validation in increasingly disparate fields.
Neither Schaub nor representatives of the Little League organization have issued official comments regarding the incident at the time of reporting. Schaub’s wife has made a statement though saying:
“This umpire waited his whole life for his 2 minutes of fame. So happy for him. He really enjoyed ejecting Bren from the game because it’s the only power trip he has In life, at a pony league baseball field. Congrats Ump! Hope this was the highlight of your life, I’m sure you’ll go back to your amazing life after this”
