Former UFC champion Luke Rockhold: “There’s too much technology, too much gayness being put out there.”

Luke Rockhold offered his perspective on modern culture, technology and masculinity during a recent appearance on The Casuals MMA podcast.

During the discussion, Rockhold connected societal changes to increased technology use and shifting cultural norms.

“I think that’s life, man. That’s like we’re all animals. We’re meant to hunt and we’re meant to be hunted. I think technology and everything is softness.”

The former champion elaborated on his theory about modern lifestyle changes.

“There’s too much technology, too much gayness being put out there.”

He connected this to what he sees as cultural manipulation, asking rhetorically:

“When did you go through an airport 20 years ago and see trans people anywhere?”

Bryce Mitchell famously dropped out of his Karate Combat match after claiming the promotion had photoshopped his image to make him look feminine, which he publicly criticized as disrespectful and offensive. Karate Combat appeared to have used AI to enhance their posters. He expressed that the altered photo misrepresented him and did not reflect who he is. Feeling insulted and unwilling to be part of a promotion that treated him that way, Mitchell chose to withdraw from the event rather than participate under those conditions.

Rockhold expanded his thoughts to include the physical demands of modern life.

“Good stresses life keep you focused, keep you strong, you know? You need to balance yourself.”

He referenced what he called Hormesius theory. The MMA star attributed some societal changes to the evolution of work and how the hard jobs have gone away, causing people to start losing balance and questioning things due to hormonal imbalances.

Rockhold also criticized contemporary eating habits, particularly coffee consumption.

“I think that’s the downfall of you know, of the world.”

He explained his view on nutrition timing and how people are not meant to have five coffees a day, as satiation starts to imbalance hormones again.

The former champion advocated for intermittent fasting principles and emphasized that people are animals meant to feast, forge and run. He noted that eating out spikes insulin and disrupts hormones.

Rockhold emphasized spacing meals throughout the day.

“The more space you have in, the more work you put in, the more balance you find in your in your head.”
