Former UFC champion Frankie Edgar denies CTE rumors after UFO sighting

Former mixed martial arts legend Frankie Edgar is pushing back against social media criticism after sharing an unusual aerial encounter during a recent dinner outing.

During an appearance on the Champ and The Tramp podcast, Edgar described a peculiar experience he and his wife Rene had while dining at Ocean’s restaurant near a bridge in New Jersey. The couple observed what appeared to be multiple drones in the sky above them.

“We park and Rene’s like ‘oh my God there’s one’ and we’re sitting there she’s filming it,” Edgar recounted. “I’m like ‘no no no’ then it gets over us. I’m like ‘oh yeah that’s definitely a drone.’ If it has a green light on it it’s a drone. I know it has a red and a white light. Eight of them came in in less than an hour that we were sitting there.”

After sharing his experience on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Edgar faced immediate backlash from users suggesting his sighting was related to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a brain condition associated with repeated head impacts in sports.

“Yeah, okay bud, CTE, buddy, CTE!’ That’s what these f* people say,” Edgar said, clearly frustrated by the responses. “I’m not arguing with dumb f* people. You can’t argue with dumb people. Because they’re too dumb to realize.”

The sighting gains additional context considering New Jersey’s recent surge in drone sightings, with the Federal Aviation Administration implementing temporary flight restrictions in certain areas due to security concerns.

Edgar took to X to express his concern about the situation, posting: “This drone s*it is getting out of hand here in NJ, WTF is going on???”

The former champion, who concluded his professional career in late 2022, remains steadfast in defending his account of the events, refusing to let social media skeptics diminish his experience.
