Former UFC champ Sean O’Malley wants to transition from MMA to Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing

Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has expressed strong interest in transitioning to boxing under Dana White’s newly launched Zuffa Boxing promotion. He revealed his ambitions during a recent episode of his BroMalley podcast.

“I would love to transition and do a little bit of boxing,” O’Malley stated candidly. “I wouldn’t even care if it’s like a huge deal. Suga versus Gervonta, that would be sick. I would love to do that.”

The 31-year-old outlined a surprising willingness to build his boxing career methodically rather than demanding immediate high-profile matches.

“I wouldn’t even mind doing like, okay, I’m 1-0 boxing. Find me a f**king 5-0 boxer. Build me up slowly. I want to be paid, reasonably, but you don’t got to pay me, you know. I’m not going to be, ‘I want five million, I want ten million.’ Pay me a couple hundred bucks. Let me compete against some guys, you know, 3-0 and 4-0 on Zuffa Boxing.”

O’Malley believes his combat style would translate well. “I really feel like my style could transition pretty well into boxing. That’d be fun.”

O’Malley also sees strategic value in UFC athletes headlining Zuffa Boxing events. “I feel like that’s what it’s going to take to really build Zuffa Boxing. Maybe not just me specifically, but having these UFC competitors that are fun, that are popular going, headlining this boxing match.”

While acknowledging the promotional challenges ahead, O’Malley expressed confidence in White’s vision. “It’s going to take them f**king signing a superstar, like someone that’s just captivates, someone you’re like, ‘I got to watch him compete,'” he noted.

However, he added optimism: “But you can’t question Dana. You can’t doubt Dana when he puts his mind to something. He’s made everything.”

O’Malley also compared Zuffa Boxing to White’s other venture, Power Slap, expressing skepticism about the latter’s long-term prospects. “I wonder if that’s just going to fade,” he said about Power Slap.
