Floyd Mayweather targeting February boxing exhibition in the UK

Former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is set to box in an exhibition match next month, likely in the UK.

After defeating UFC’s Conor McGregor in a boxing match, Mayweather retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record. Mayweather has participated in a number of exhibition bouts after his retirement.

The bulk of Mayweather’s bouts throughout his professional career happened in Las Vegas. For exhibition matches, he has visited several nations, including Japan, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.

Mayweather is now prepared to display his skills in the UK.

He told The Sunday Telegraph:

“A bout is planned in the UK for 2023. In February we’re looking forward to coming here and putting on an exhibition for the fans in the UK, because I’ve never had a chance to come over here and fight when I was actively boxing as a professional – so hopefully in February I’ll come over and do an exhibition if it’s possible.”

Many critics refer to Mayweather’s exhibition bouts as cashgrab events. Therefore, not everyone is happy with them.

Mayweather stated: “I want to continue to help this sport grow, because without boxing I wouldn’t be where I’m at. But what’s also important to me is giving back to the sport of boxing and I will always give back to the sport of boxing. It’s a driving force to me.”

“I want everybody in the UK to have fun, come and enjoy the entertainment boxing brings. I’m proud of all these guys trying out in boxing, and thankful to everybody that’s been working on these events behind the scenes.”

Popular social media celebrities Logan Paul and Deji have shared the ring with Floyd Mayweather as well.

Recently, Mayweather has been under fire for being silly throughout his exhibition match against Deji.

Mayweather responded by saying:

“I did an exhibition with the YouTuber Logan Paul. We had fun. People have gotta know, there’s a difference between a real fight and an exhibition. All I did was work out from time to time.”

Mayweather has no desire to face Jake Paul, he’s previously asked that Paul be removed from the audience ahead of Deji boxing match in Dubai.
