Florida Is Now Licensing UFC Car Plates For A Good Cause

When Florida drivers eventually pull up to a red light and spot a sleek black plate reading “UFC Lives Here” on the car ahead of them, they might not immediately think of charity. But that’s exactly the point.

According to sources, Governor Ron DeSantis made it official earlier this week, signing into law the bill that authorizes the creation of a UFC-branded specialty license plate for Florida residents. The plates are expected to roll out across the state beginning October 1, 2026, adding a bold new option to Florida’s already diverse lineup of specialty registrations.

The concept is straightforward. Drivers who opt for the plate pay an additional $25 annual fee on top of their standard registration costs. Every dollar of that surcharge flows directly to the UFC Foundation, the organization’s charitable arm that has been doing meaningful work since its founding in 2021. The Foundation’s focus areas include youth mentoring, support for children’s hospitals, assistance to military families, and programs designed to help individuals facing life-threatening illnesses.

The legislation didn’t arrive overnight. Originally introduced as Senate Bill 264 by Senator Joe Gruters, the measure cleared Florida’s legislature without a single opposing vote. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has been tasked with overseeing both the design and the official rollout of the plate.

This particular initiative didn’t stand alone during the legislative process. Several other specialty plates were reviewed alongside it, from Miami Northwestern alumni plates to designs supporting first responder foundations.

There is one hurdle still to clear, however. Like all Florida specialty plates, the UFC version must hit a minimum of 3,000 presale vouchers within two years to remain viable. Presale vouchers are currently available.

The license plate initiative is not the only way the UFC has been channeling its reach toward meaningful causes. The organization recently launched the “Gloves For Good” program, which invites athletes to design unique, one-of-a-kind gloves that are then sold to generate funds and raise awareness for causes personal to the fighters themselves.

The inaugural edition of the program featured Max Holloway, whose custom gloves drew from his Hawaiian heritage and raised support for both the Holloway Foundation and the UFC Foundation, with proceeds directed toward underprivileged youth in Hawaii. Fans who participated also had a chance to win the gloves themselves and attend his matchup against Charles Oliveira at UFC 326.
