Fans rail Masvidal for thinking dinner will make up for $275K loss

In the fall out from UFC 272, one of the biggest headlines is how rnb star Drake had lost $275,000 betting on Jorge Masvidal.

Colby was the favorite going into the fight (2/7) with Masvidal trailing along at 5/2. The exact odds on the bet Drake placed haven’t been publicized but according to his Instagram story, he placed the wager hoping to receive $1 million if he wins.

Drake is known to have an interest in mixed martial arts. He was previously spotted several times hanging out with Conor McGregor. He also appeared to accompany the Irish star during weigh ins for UFC 229. And finally Drake was in the audience once Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped the fence and went to confront Dillon Danis.

Masvidal’s opponent Colby Covington also wasn’t pleased when he heard about the massive bet Drake placed on Masvidal. During the post fight press conference he told media:

“Let’s talk about all the money that Drake lost tonight, he needs to go back to selling those s***** albums to get back the money.” Colby said.

Colby added, “He should have went to America’s pick of the week by my bookie. I’m America’s champ and I was America’s pick of the week. Drake you suck at sports betting go back to your s***** little albums and rapping.”

But to make matters worse Masvidal offered to ‘make up’ for the massive loss.

“Next time you in Miami dinner on me @Drake” Masvidal posted to the chagrin of his fanbase.

What followed was plenty of mockery with the fans questioning the tactic.
