Undisputed UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev was scheduled to face Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 284.
A user of the internet site 4Chan has promised to try to blind and impair Makhachev’s eyesight. The main event of UFC 284 will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
Both showed remarkable skill and resilience, making it a tough decision to call. The crowd’s cheers for Volkanovski in the early stages of the were deafening, but as the rounds went on, Makhachev proved himself to be a worthy opponent. Despite his best efforts, Volkanovski could not make history by capturing two belts.
Volkanovski put his status as the number one pound-for-pound on the line.
An anonymous user on 4Chan posted: “THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING! THE BLINDING O FTHE BRAZZA IS UPON US. /heem/cel from Perth is Trojan horsing a laser pointer in through a diabetes needle. He will be BLINDING Makhachev resulting in a finish or a NO CONTEST. Pay attention for the GREEN DOT tomorrow. You will see it tested ONCE during the Randy Brown fight, then during the main event.”
Islam Makhachev won 10 straight matches before winning the title against Oliveira in October. Some of his opponents included were Bobby Green, Dan Hooker, Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, and Arman Tsarukyan, to mention a few.
Luckily, no incident was recorded in Perth and both Makhachev and Volkanovski got out of their clash unscathed.
