English football legend Wayne Rooney wants to box Jake Paul

Former England footballer, Wayne Rooney, has expressed his desire to take on Jake Paul in the boxing ring, according to Eddie Hearn.

The boxing promoter revealed that Rooney frequently texts him, sometimes after having a few drinks, asking for a chance to fight against the YouTube sensation. Hearn claims that the fight could be “makeable.”

Jake Paul has become a major draw in the combat sports world despite the criticisms of boxing purists. His bouts have generated millions of dollars, and he has gained a massive following beyond traditional boxing fans.

He has already boxed against UFC stars like Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva, and recently, he lost to Tommy Fury.

Speaking on That Peter Crouch podcast, Hearn revealed.

Now, Rooney, who has had amateur outings in the past, is looking to take on the younger Paul brother in the ring. Hearn confirmed that the former footballer can box, but it remains to be seen whether he would seriously pursue a boxing bout with Jake Paul.

The prospect of a Wayne Rooney vs. Jake Paul has generated excitement, with Hearn even suggesting that it could take place at Old Trafford. However, it is worth noting that many guys have expressed their desire to box Paul, and whether Rooney would be a credible opponent remains to be seen.

Rooney has a history of boxing, having been involved in a friendly scuffle with teammate Phil Bardsley earlier in his career. However, going up against a much younger and more experienced opponent in the form of Jake Paul would be an entirely different challenge.
