Elon Musk makes time to watch the UFC despite 100 hour work weeks

Elon Musk recently made an appearance with the Nelk lads on the most current edition of the ‘Full Send Podcast’. The Nelk boys have long been linked to the UFC, one of the greatest MMA promotions in the world. It was thus obvious that they would question the CEO of SpaceX about the UFC, and that’s precisely what they did.

Although this isn’t often talked about, Musk actually owns shares in Endeavor – UFC’s owner so he is technically one of the promotion’s owners.

Back in June,  Elon Musk filed a Form 4 with the Securities Exchange Commission, converting his options at Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc. to 7,583 shares . Elon Musk is part of Endeavor’s board. However, Musk notified the company that he would be resigning from its board by June 30, 2022,

“We thank Elon Musk for his commitment to Endeavor through our first year as a public company, in which he contributed meaningfully to our long-term strategy and vision for the future of sports and entertainment,” a company spokesperson said in a statement provided to Deadline. “We know he has a lot of demands and little time, and we appreciate the support he provided us.”

The Nelk lads questioned Musk about the UFC failing to mention any of that but Musk still provided some interesting insight in his understanding of mixed martial arts.

Musk said: “I watch UFC occasionally these days. I watch the early fights with Royce Gracie… Crazy… That was like they didn’t have any rules, basically. I mean, they technically had some rules.”

Musk added: “Because you know you can’t like eye gouging, knee caps or throat, you know… I see occasional once. It’s still interesting to watch. There’s a lot more technique. These days they have like weight categories.”

Musk also didn’t talk about the time Beniel Dariush called him out – prior to knowing that Musk is actually an effective owner of the UFC.

“I said, jokingly, that I would just call Elon out after. They said it was a great idea, and we laughed. It was just a joke.”

“But as I got closer , I said, ‘You know what? I’m actually gonna call him out.’ It’s been frustrating. I’ve been waiting for months.”

“I didn’t overthink it. I just ignored it. Then, I hear about how Elon replied to my callout. I said, ‘Oh my gosh, these people might be real.’ We called them back and they said to just come in and they’d get it all fixed up. I was like, ‘That’s it? Just come in? I’ve been calling you guys for months.'”
