Despite being a former World’s Strongest Man, Eddie Hall has conceded that the immense strength of a fully grown silverback gorilla would likely overpower him. The 6’3″, 360lb weightlifter shared this candid admission when asked about facing animals in combat sports exhibitions.
Eddie Hall recently recounted an eye-opening experience with a chimpanzee. He told Bisping: “I have actually met and had the, like, been in physical contact with a chimpanzee, which in nowhere near the size of the big gorillas. And their grip strength is another level.”
Hall went on to say. “So yeah. I think the fully grown silverback gorillas would outdo a prime Eddie Hall if I’m being honest.”
Hall emphasized the remarkable grip strength of chimpanzees, describing it as a significant revelation about the power of primates. Hall said that feeling the vice-like grip of a chimpanzee was astonishing. He admitted that their strength is phenomenal, and it made him realize just how powerful these animals are.
The 36-year-old from Newcastle won the World’s Strongest Man title in 2017. He reached his peak strength during his competitive years. At his best, he could squat and deadlift 1,000 lbs and bench press 700 lbs.
Reflecting on his career, Hall recalled: “The day I won the World’s Strongest Man, I was 430 lbs in body weight…I felt as though I could literally walk around, I felt as though I could run through a brick wall. That’s how big and strong I felt.”
Despite his extraordinary strength, Hall admitted that fully grown silverback gorillas possess an unparalleled power. He stated: “But [after meeting the chimpanzee] I think the fully grown silverback gorillas would outdo a prime Eddie Hall.”
Eddie Hall’s honest acknowledgment of the superior strength of silverback gorillas serves as a reminder of the awe-inspiring power of nature. Even the strongest humans must respect the incredible capabilities of the animal kingdom. Hall’s encounter with a chimpanzee provided a humbling perspective on the remarkable strength of primates, reinforcing the notion that some forces of nature remain unmatched.
