Recently, President Donald Trump revealed plans to host a UFC championship event on the White House grounds next year as part of America’s 250th birthday celebrations.
Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Trump shared his vision for the unprecedented sporting spectacle: “They’re going to have special events in honor of America 250. And I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight.”
The President’s announcement drew excitement from UFC fans in attendance as he elaborated on the scale of the event. “Think of this on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,” Trump explained, noting that UFC CEO Dana White would oversee the arrangements for what he described as a “championship fight” capable of accommodating “like 20, 25,000 people.”
Trump’s relationship with the UFC and Dana White has been well-documented over the years. The president has frequently attended major UFC events, including UFC 302 and most recently UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in New York. At these events, Trump has often been seated ringside alongside White, receiving notably positive reactions from MMA fans.
The bond between the two was further highlighted when White introduced Trump on stage during the final night of the 2024 Republican National Convention. While the White House has hosted various ceremonial and cultural events throughout its history, a major sporting competition of this magnitude would be a first.
“We’re going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events. But the UFC fight is going to be a big deal, too,” Trump added, suggesting this would be just one component of broader America 250 celebrations.
The America 250 initiative commemorates the United States’ semiquincentennial—marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The planned celebrations in 2026 are expected to include numerous events across the country highlighting American history, culture, and achievement.
While details about specific matchups or timing remain unannounced, the prospect of a mixed martial arts organization staging a championship event on the White House lawn seems quite bold.
