‘Do you smell weed?’ – Kevin Holland has UFC commentators in hysterics after asking opponent about a smell during his bout

Kevin Holland is a UFC welterweight competitor who is renowned for his talks in the middle of bouts. During his recent bout against Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287, Holland asked a question that left commentators and fans amused.

In the first round, Santiago Ponzinibbio was attempting to knock out Holland. Commentator Anik then discovered that Holland had begun speaking.

Cormier stated: “He said, ‘Do you smell weed?’”

Joe Rogan and Anik both laughed before he questioned, “Is that what he said?”

Cormier confirmed that Holland did indeed ask Ponzinibbio about the smell of weed. He replied: “Yeah, that’s exactly what he said to Ponzinibbio.”

This unusual remark by Holland caught the attention of the UFC commentators who ended up chuckling at the unexpected comment. Before turning their attention back to the welterweight match, the commentators did agree that there was an odd scent in the air in Miami.

Holland’s performance in the match against Ponzinibbio was impressive. He appeared to win the first two rounds with his striking and grappling skills. In round three, Holland landed a punch that resulted in Ponzinibbio being knocked out cold, falling face-first to the floor. Referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in to stop the match but Ponzinibbio immediately protested the decision.

Additionally, Kevin Holland and Jorge Masvidal had a clash at a hotel before UFC 287. In his post-bout interview, Holland offered they compete in a match after Masvidal loses to Gilbert Burns in the co-main event.

However, Masvidal has since retired from his combat sports career after his loss to Burns. This means a potential showdown with Holland may no longer be possible.

Holland’s journey in the UFC welterweight division has had its ups and downs. He started his career in the 170lb weight class with two consecutive wins before facing setbacks against Khamzat Chimaev and Stephen Thompson. With his recent win, Holland finally snapped his losing streak. He has a current record of 3-2 in the UFC now.
