Dillon Danis’ lawyer quits Nina Agdal lawsuit due to outstanding bills

The legal representation for mixed martial arts’s Dillon Danis has withdrawn from the high-profile defamation case brought against him by Nina Agdal, fiancée of internet personality Logan Paul. The attorney cited unpaid bills as the primary reason for stepping away from the lawsuit.

According to court documents filed on September 12, 2024, Danis’ lawyer submitted a motion to withdraw as counsel, stating that his client had “failed to comply with the terms of the Firm’s retainer agreement.” The filing revealed that Danis had not paid monthly invoices in a timely manner and had not maintained the required retainer at the agreed-upon level.

The attorney expressed that this had been a “recurring problem” and noted that Danis had become unresponsive to communications, including those regarding court orders. It was only when the lawyer informed Danis of his intention to withdraw that the fighter finally responded.

Interestingly, the lawyer admitted to personally liking Danis and finding the case intriguing. However, the firm’s policy regarding unpaid fees left no choice but to discontinue representation.

This development comes amidst ongoing legal proceedings where Danis has been ordered to provide the phone used to make controversial social media posts about Agdal. The fighter claims he cannot locate the device, further complicating the case.

The lawsuit stems from a series of social media posts made by Danis in the lead-up to his October 2023 boxing match against Logan Paul. These posts, some featuring authentic and others allegedly manipulated images, purportedly aimed to reveal past relationships and intimate moments involving Agdal.

As the legal battle continues, Danis’ career appears to be in flux. While he hinted at preparing for a new opponent in April 2024, recent reports suggest he was slated to face Mike Perry in an upcoming event. However, with this latest setback in his legal representation, the future of both his fighting career and the lawsuit remains uncertain.
