Dillon Danis challenges Sean O’Malley

Dillon Danis can not stay away from controversy and social media debacles for long. Recently, he shared Instagram DMs  with UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley. He challenged Sean to a bout during the conversation.

Dillon Danis was a training partner of former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor and picked up his subtle art of social media management from McGregor during their sordid affair.

Danis last competed in an MMA bout in 2019. His professional record is 2-0. He’s since undergone two knee reconstructions.

During injury rehab he’s kept busy engaging in social media spats with famous names in MMA.

In the past, he annoyed the likes of Jake Paul, Michael Bisping, Ali Abdelaziz and Khamzat Chimaev. This time, he took aim at a rising star in the UFC bantamweight division.  O’Malley is scheduled to face Petr Yan at UFC 280 on October 22, 2022.

Danis was a promising star in mixed martial arts when he signed with Bellator MMA. He had good performances in his  pro grappling career, winning many accolades.

He surprised audiences by making a move to MMA in 2018 and defeated his opponent Kyle Walker by submission in the first round. In the second bout at Bellator 222, he won again with a submission against Max Humphrey. But after the event he admitted he basically had no ligaments in his leg which led to the first reconstruction. Sadly that unexpectedly failed and he had to undergo a second one.

Bellator CEO Scott Coker is not sure he will return to MMA but claimed he is ready to give him a place again. He said,
“he’s got to stay active, and he’s got to want to come back,” Coker said.

“He calls me, he wants to come back, and then sometimes, I don’t hear from him for months. If he’s really serious about coming back, we’ll definitely have a spot for him, and we’ll definitely make an opportunity for him.”
