Chael Sonnen had called Deontay Wilder a coward after he challenged Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou was recently stripped of his UFC heavyweight title and left the UFC in January.
Deontay Wilder is a seasoned boxer and former WBC heavyweight champion. He said that h would want to face Ngannou twice, once in boxing and once in mixed martial arts.
UFC analyst Chael Sonnen said that by proposing to compete against Ngannou in MMA, Wilder was pretending to be courageous.
“”When you’re successful, you don’t listen to the whispers of miserable people’s cries. I don’t listen to those things. As I’ve said, I’ve been traveling too much. I’ve been handling business. I have been feeding my family. I haven’t been sitting around, worrying about the foolishness of the sounds of foolish people.”
In a recent interview with 78SPORTSTV, Wilder was questioned about Sonnen. Wilder replied:
“When you’re successful, you don’t listen to the whispers of miserable people’s cries. I don’t listen to those things. As I’ve said, I’ve been traveling too much. I’ve been handling business. I have been feeding my family. I haven’t been sitting around, worrying about the foolishness of the sounds of foolish people.”
Wilder continued, noting that he is not emotionally affected or disturbed by other people’s remarks:
“For me, because I don’t make no money off of foolishness, I don’t entertain it… That’s just another human being a miserable person. That’s just what he feels.”
Deontay Wilder jokingly said that in order to increase his income, he could launch a podcast and YouTube channel similar to Chael Sonnen’s. He emphasised that Sonnen’s remarks may have been made to get clicks and attention.
Wilder made it clear that he’s willing to take on Francis Ngannou in mixed martial arts first. He’s even open to having both matches in boxing or mixed martial arts.
Francis Ngannou is anticipated to make his boxing debut in July after quickly recovering from his knee injury difficulties. The legendary heavyweight MMA fighter recently seemed to accept Wilder’s offer on Twitter.
