A Democratic gubernatorial candidate has sparked controversy by suggesting that the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles should potentially eliminate gender divisions, allowing transgender athletes to compete without restrictions in women’s sports.
According to sources, during an appearance on Piers Morgan’s show, the California Democrat candidate made startling statements about trans athletes competing in the upcoming Olympics. When pressed by Morgan about whether she would allow biological males who identify as women to compete in women’s Olympic sports, she responded: “I think transgender female athletes are women athletes and they should be able to compete.”
Morgan continued to challenge her position, asking directly if she believed it was fair for biological males to compete in women’s sports at the Olympics. Her response doubled down on the controversial stance: “I think they should be able to compete in women’s sports, but I also think that there is still some discussion about whether they should compete in the same field, but I just want them to be able to participate.”
The candidate’s reasoning centered on the idea that gender differences should potentially be eliminated entirely from Olympic competition to accommodate transgender athletes and protect their feelings. She suggested that “trans men who are pretending to be women” need their feelings protected, and therefore all gender distinctions should be removed in favor of a gender-neutral Olympics.
The biological reality of athletic competition makes this proposal particularly absurd. In Texas alone during spring 2024, every single high school state champion boy in track and field was faster than Florence Griffith Joyner’s world record—the fastest time a woman has ever run in the 100 meters, set in 1988. These aren’t even fully grown men, but teenage boys aged 15-18, yet every Texas state champion outperformed the greatest female sprinter in history.
This fact demolishes any notion that elite male and female athletes compete on equal footing. The physical advantages that biological males possess, including greater muscle mass, bone density, lung capacity, and testosterone levels, create insurmountable competitive gaps that no amount of ideological rhetoric can erase.
The proposal represents an extreme position even within progressive circles, prioritizing gender ideology over fairness in women’s sports. It would effectively end women’s athletics as a protected category, allowing biological males to dominate competitions that were specifically created to give female athletes opportunities to compete on a level playing field.
As the 2028 Olympics approaches, this debate will likely intensify, forcing sports governing bodies to choose between biological reality and political pressure.
