UFC President Dana White has made his choice for the greatest athlete of all time – and it’s not his promotion’s most dominant champion Jon Jones.
Despite consistently praising Jones as the UFC’s GOAT (Greatest of All Time), White opted for NBA legend Michael Jordan when asked about the best across all sports.
“I am a huge Michael Jordan fan so I will go with Michael Jordan,” White stated simply during a recent media appearance.
The declaration is particularly noteworthy given White’s longstanding support of Jones, whom he still considers the pound-for-pound best fighter in the UFC today. When specifically asked about the GOAT of UFC, White didn’t hesitate to name Jones.
Jones, who currently holds the heavyweight title, is preparing to defend his championship against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. If successful, White has already outlined plans for Jones’s next challenge – a bout with interim champion Tom Aspinall, despite Jones expressing interest in facing light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
“Pereira is a former middleweight turned light heavyweight. He’s a great kickboxer, but his wrestling isn’t on Jones’ level,” White explained, adding that Jones’s significantly larger size makes it an uneven matchup.
In other revelations, White shared insights into his personal spending habits, noting that he relies entirely on a personal shopper for his wardrobe needs. “I haven’t been to a mall in probably ten years. I don’t do any of that stuff,” White revealed. “I don’t shop online, I have a personal shopper who literally buys everything for me, everything. Socks, shoes, underwear, T-shirts, jeans – you name it.”
His sneaker collection, particularly featuring Travis Scott’s Nike Air Jordans line, contributed to significant expenditure. “Last year I spent over $100,000 just on shoes,” White disclosed, noting that some pairs remain unworn as collectibles.
