Dana White addressed his political identity during a recent appearance on a podcast hosted by Bri Chickenfry, pushing back on the idea that he fits neatly into one political camp.
“I consider myself right down the middle and I’m for common sense. That’s that’s what I’m for,” White said. “Do I lean a little right right now? Yes, on some things, but I lean left on a lot of things, too.”
White pointed to his Massachusetts roots as evidence that his views don’t fit a simple label. “A lot of things about me are very liberal too. I come from Massachusetts,” he said.
He also described using outside sources to check claims before forming opinions, referencing a conversation about environmental policy.
“I have a friend who lives here in New York and she’s a model and I saw she posted this thing yesterday about that President Trump is changing these laws that could hurt not only grizzly bears but endangered species,” White explained. “So what I do is I put it into AI and I say is this true? And then AI breaks it down and says, well, yeah, some of these things are changing. It’s an opinion that this could happen. It’s not a fact.” He added, “If this is true, I’m literally going to talk to him about this.”
The conversation touched on White’s relationship with President Trump, a friendship that has drawn scrutiny given the polarized nature of American politics. White described the president as someone who wins people over in person, regardless of their political leanings.
“There’s people that don’t like him and will never like him no matter what,” White acknowledged. “He is a good man. His family are good people. And he’s never been anything but an incredible friend to me.”
White illustrated the point with a story about Bill Maher, a longtime Democratic supporter, visiting the White House for a dinner.
“Bill Maher has been a Democrat and supporting Democrats for 40 years,” White said. “He’s never toured the White House. Never been invited.” According to White, the dinner changed Maher’s perspective. “The President took him on a full tour of the White House. Even Bill Maher when he went on his show on HBO the next episode said, ‘The man I have h*ted for 30 years was not present at that dinner.'”
