Dana White pays tribute to MMA amateur that passed tragically at 21 years old

The MMA world was rocked by the tragic news of Shalie Lipp’s untimely death just two weeks before her scheduled bout  for the flyweight title at Ignite No Mercy 11.

The promising mixed-martial-arts competitor from Fargo, Minnesota’s Academy of Combat Arts died in a car accident on the I-94 bridge connecting Fargo and Moorhead.

According to reports, Lipp was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu when she collided with a 2017 Jeep Cherokee that was headed east. Sadly, Lipp was the only person in either car who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and she died on the scene.

Shalie Lipp’s Dream to Compete in the UFC

After her passing, Lipp’s mother discovered her daughter’s journal, which contained entries where she frequently wrote “Dana White will know my name.”

This was perhaps Lipp’s way of manifesting her dream to compete in the UFC. Lipp’s ambition and dedication to MMA were evident as she was set to compete for the flyweight title at Ignite No Mercy 11.

Unfortunately, her aspirations were tragically cut short, and the MMA community mourns the loss of a rising star.

Dana White’s Reaction to Shalie Lipp’s Passing

UFC president Dana White was devastated by the news of Lipp’s death. Former UFC women’s flyweight title challenger Lauren Murphy informed Mick Maynard, UFC Vice President of Talent Relations, of the tragedy.

White took to Instagram to share his condolences, posting a poignant note with a picture of Shalie Lipp, which read: “I KNOW YOUR NAME……. RIP.”
