Dana White announces light heavyweight pivot: Teixeira vs Jamahal Hill for the still vacant title

UFC 282 was a card that should’ve just been cancelled once Jiri Prochazka announced he had to back out due to a shoulder injury.

But UFC made a commitment to ESPN – and they had to honor it. So Prochazka vacated the title and instead of matching Teixeira with either Ankalaev or former champion Jan Blachowicz the UFC instead upgraded their bout to a vacant title bout.

The plan had one cardinal flaw – the two would duke it out to a split draw decision after 5 rounds of action at UFC 282 leaving the vacant title – still vacant.

Prior to the contest Dana White said he would be giving Glover Teixiera the next shot – but in a surprising turn of events it won’t be featuring any of the title contenders from last night.

Instead UFC is planning to make Teixeira vs Jamahal Hill happen at UFC 283 in Brazil for the vacant title.

Ankalaev might be a good athlete – but he’s in no way marketable and the brass seems to be aware of it.

After White made the surprising announcement at the presser Jamahal Hill reacted in a video he posted online.

“Be patient. I told you I’ll be patient. I told you I’ll be cool.”

“We’re going to actually listen to Dana White.”

“And you already know what time it is, bruh. I’ve been saying my time and I tell you here. Dun dun dun. What I do. Oh, yeah, that’s me. It’s Christmas, all right? Mm hmm.”

“I’m going overseas. I’m storming in here. You already know I’ll be I barbecue in Brazil. Brazil for four weeks. Let’s go. I’m ready, baby. Let’s go. I love it. It’s so competitive. It’s all love. But let’s fu**ing goes. My time. Let’s go. I mean, I don’t care what nobody got to say about nothing. I don’t care what nobody got to say about nothing.”
