Dan Hardy thinks Nate Diaz should be pressing charges for Khamzat Chimaev matchmaking

Dan Hardy is no longer employed by the UFC organization. He recently aired his strong opinions over a bout between Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev.

Diaz is known for his long and lustrous career in MMA. UFC announced that Diaz would headline UFC 279 against the up-and-coming sensation Chimaev to conclude his current contract.

During his appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Hardy expressed an opinion that the veteran is being unjustly treated by the UFC.

“It feels like we’re getting to the point where someone should start thinking about pressing charges. It doesn’t feel like a fair.”

“It feels like a very, very cruel thing to do to someone that is a legitimate legend. Because they’ve spoken out against the organization, they’re going to get executed live on TV.”

Nate Diaz will likely compete in his last match at UFC 279 after constantly alleging that the UFC is trying to keep him captive. UFC previously used Chimaev offer to auto extend his contract for another 6 months.

Dan Hardy believes that it would be detrimental to the organization for Diaz not to have a proper send-off in his last UFC event. He says:

“I think it’s going to be uncomfortable to watch, and I think it’s going to leave the UFC in a very, very bad light. And I just hope Nate comes through it alright, because I think he’s got good opportunities outside the UFC. It’s just a shame that they’re going to do this assassination attempt on him before he leaves.”

Khamzat doesn’t seem to be having any problems with the match up.  Khamzat is eager to accompany Diaz to his UFC “funeral.” This is despite the fact that he is the overwhelming favorite and has nothing to gain from a victory over undersized and overtaxed Diaz.

Dan Hardy said that this approach is typical for the UFC:

” they want to damage you, they can actually physically do it, which is a shame.”
