Dagestan’s Ikram Aliskerov finishes a nasty kimura at DWCS 54

UFC hopeful Ikram Aliskerov scored an impressive submission at the recent Dana White’s Contender Series event. The Dagestani athlete set up a nasty kimura lock early in the first round.

Ikram Aliskerov competed at DWCS 54 on September 13 at the UFC Apex.. The 29-year-old clashed with Mario Sousa in a middleweight bout. It was clearly an easy one for Aliskerov as he only needed over 2 minutes to submit Sousa.

Islam Aliskerov knows his field of expertise and as soon as the horn sounded, he dove for a takedown. It didn’t take a lot of attempts before Aliskerov got his momentum going and successfully dragged Sousa to the ground.

Aliskerov showed an impressive ground game. As soon as Sousa got taken down, Aliskerov quickly locked in a nasty kimura submission. Sousa could only scramble a bit before tapping out.

This victory marked Aliskerov’s 5th win streak in his professional MMA career. He and four other winners at DWCS 54 earned a contract to compete in the biggest MMA promotion, the UFC.

Ikram Aliskerov has competed 14 times with a record consisting of 13 wins and 1 loss. In 2019 while competing within Brave FC, Aliskerov suffered his one and only loss to Khamzat Chimaev.

The pair competed in a middleweight bout. It was Aliskerov’s 9th professional boit while ‘Borz’ entered the cage with a 4-0 record. It was such a quick and devastating loss for Aliskerov. The Chechen’s wolf brutally knocked him out with only two minutes into the first round.

Khamzat Chimaev continued his win streak and expects to get a title shot soon. The 29-year-old now has 12 total wins and remains undefeated.

A potential rematch between Ikram Aliskerov and Khamzat Chimaev might happen in the future. Aliskerov always competed in middleweight throughout his career, while Chimaev faced a lot of problems to stay at welterweight. Many people suggest he to return to middleweight division instead.
