Former Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg dominated her boxing match at Fight Night San Jose, securing a first-round stoppage victory over Precious Harris-McCray on Saturday night at Tech CU Arena.
The crowd at the Tech CU Arena erupted as the referee waved off the contest after Cyborg overwhelmed her opponent with a barrage of punches, prompting shouts of
“That’s it, that’s it!”
as the match concluded in dramatic fashion.
This victory improves Cyborg’s professional boxing record to 7-0, showcasing her versatility across combat sports. The event, promoted by her former Strikeforce and Bellator promoter Scott Coker, marked another successful outing for the Brazilian-American fighter in her quest to build a parallel career in boxing.
Prior to the bout, Cyborg had expressed her plans to remain active in both boxing and MMA.
“I know my manager did a great contract, an amazing contract with the PFL,” Cyborg told MediA. “I’m really happy to be able to be boxing when I don’t have an MMA fight.”
The bout against Harris-McCray (4-1) was scheduled for six rounds but required only one for Cyborg to assert her dominance. This boxing match served as an activity-keeper for the champion between her MMA commitments.
Fans of Cyborg’s MMA career can expect news about her next bout soon.
“I believe after this boxing fight, they’re going to announce my next fight,”
“Sara Collins is the next challenger for the belt. She beat Leah McCourt. I’m really excited, but I always like to focus on my next fight, which is the boxing one.”
With two fights remaining on her PFL contract, Cyborg has clear ambitions for the future of her career.
“My plan is to continue between MMA fights and boxing fights, and I hope to finish my career a PFL champion and a boxing champion,”
she explained.
At 28-2 in her MMA career and now 7-0 in boxing, Cyborg continues to cement her legacy as one of the most accomplished female combat sports athletes of all time, seamlessly transitioning between disciplines while maintaining championship form in both arenas.
