UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan recently appeared in a live broadcast with looksmaxxing influencer Clavicular. During their conversation, Clavicular made a case that physical appearance plays a measurable role in how the UFC chooses to position its athletes.
“People are just naturally more drawn to good-looking people, even if it is bad. Their face gets pushed out there more,” Clavicular said.
Tsarukyan immediately responded with humor, saying: “So, I’m gonna do now Botox.”
Clavicular leaned into the idea, suggesting that improving one’s appearance could theoretically translate into better opportunities inside the promotion.
“Honestly, it’s good, bro. You would probably be able to get more title matches the better looking you are, you know? So it could be worth it,” he said.
Tsarukyan kept the playful tone going. “Now I’m gonna do Botox to get my title match. That’s why they didn’t give me [a title opportunity], because I’m ugly,” he quipped.
Clavicular quickly pushed back on that characterization, offering a lighthearted reassurance.
“No, no, you actually mog. Because you have a full head of hair. Good features,” he said.
He was careful to note, however, that Tsarukyan is not without his natural assets in the looks department. “Everyone can improve. Even the best-looking person in the world. So get a little better,” Clavicular added.
The exchange, while lighthearted, touches on a frustration that has been building for Tsarukyan over the past year. The 29-year-old contender last competed at UFC Qatar in 2025, where he submitted Dan Hooker to reaffirm his position at the top of the lightweight division. Despite the convincing performance, a title booking remained out of reach.
UFC CEO Dana White has been candid about his reasoning for withholding a title opportunity from Tsarukyan, pointing to a string of controversies surrounding the contender, including an incident involving a fan and a headbutt directed at Hooker during their contest.
The title troubles trace back to UFC 311, when Tsarukyan withdrew from a scheduled lightweight championship bout against then-titleholder Islam Makhachev at the eleventh hour, citing a hernia.
The late pullout did not go over well with UFC brass. To rebuild goodwill, Tsarukyan accepted a backup role for UFC 317, then earned a decisive win at UFC Qatar, but the title door still did not open.
Looking ahead, the contender is expected to serve as a backup for the UFC Freedom 250 main event, a lightweight title unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. His next confirmed booking is anticipated to be announced following the White House card.
In the meantime, Tsarukyan has remained active through commitments with RAF.
