Conor McGregor: UFC are offering me a new deal; we shall see

During a post-event press conference at BKFC, Conor McGregor dropped a significant bombshell about his combat future. When asked about his promotional activities versus his combat career, the Irish superstar revealed that negotiations with the UFC are currently underway.

“Don’t get me wrong, I miss the fight game. And I’m excited about what’s ahead,” McGregor stated to the assembled media. “I know Dave wants me in the Bare Knuckle. The UFC are concocting a new contract deal or whatever’s going to happen. I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll take it day by day, but God is great and I thank him every day.”

This revelation comes as McGregor has been heavily involved in his promotional duties as an owner of BKFC. The former two-division UFC champion has been absent from active competition while focusing on building the BKFC brand, but his comments suggest a potential return to the octagon could be on the horizon.

McGregor reflected on the challenging nature of balancing both combat and promotional responsibilities, drawing from his extensive experience in both roles. “To fight as well as promote is the real deal,” he explained. “To promote on its own is easy. And also, coincidentally, to fight on its own is easy… Then when you rise, you’ve got to add this promotional to it. And both of them combined is incredibly draining.”

The 35-year-old acknowledged that the dual pressures of competing at the highest level while managing promotional obligations nearly overwhelmed him during his rise to global superstardom. “I wouldn’t be the first to tell you it almost broke me. And to be honest, maybe it did break me,” McGregor admitted candidly.

Currently, McGregor appears to be enjoying his role as a promoter, describing it as “absolutely amazing” and noting how he gets to “put on a nice suit” and “put on a nice watch” for events. However, his admission that he misses fighting suggests the competitive fire still burns within him.
