Former UFC champion Conor McGregor was reportedly seen at the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia pay-per-view bout in Las Vegas last weekend. But before he was allowed into the event, McGregor had to apologize to Showtime Boxing boss Stephen Espinoza for his remarks made against the executive in 2017.
The enormous pay-per-view bout in Las Vegas last weekend was a dual broadcast between DAZN and Showtime. McGregor was present at the event and was spotted at ringside and backstage.
Former world champion and McGregor’s former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi recently said that McGregor had to grovel to Espinoza to enter the event. McGregor had previously called him a “weasel” during the lead-up to his match with Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
According to reports, Malignaggi said in his podcast: “This happened because I’ve got all the inside sources, Conor McGregor had to apologise to Stephen Espinoza in order to get tickets to the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight.”
Malignaggi also claimed that Espinoza had control over the tickets for the show. He continued: “Everybody knows that McGregor has had issues, his run ins with Espinoza in the past and they were enemies as well. But Espinoza now controls the tickets ”
“He had to apologize and this p**** apologized just to get tickets to the fight. Conor McGregor, Connie, how does Stephen Espinoza’s d*** taste? Can you let me know? Because I told them to f*** off when they wanted me to apologize.”
After hanging up his gloves in 2017, Malignaggi worked as an analyst on Showtime. Malignaggi was removed from Showtime’s broadcast team after he made controversial comments during an interview with iFL TV. In the since-deleted interview, he talked about the “dominant race” in boxing.
According to reports, he refused to apologize to ViacomCBS (Showtime’s parent company) for the interview.
Malignaggi continued to criticize McGregor, asking him to describe how “Espinoza’s d*** tasted.
Malignaggi continued: “I want to know because I already told you you’ve got no balls, we already know you’ve got no balls. But now just when I thought you couldn’t sink any lower, you apologise just for tickets to the fight. Bro, how does Stephen’s d*** taste? Can you respond to me, please?”
