Rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev recently made UFC CEO Dana White surprised with his unexpected comment about the promotion’s title belt during a recent interaction.
Footage circulating on social media shows an unfiltered exchange where Chimaev approaches White, first demanding: “Hey, get my money. Dana, send my money, brother.”
The undefeated contender then delivered the comment that caused White’s expression to freeze as Chimaev referred to the UFC title as a “s*it belt” directly to the promotion head’s face.
“I’m waiting for that war and that s*it-belt,” Chimaev declared bluntly, before quickly pivoting to a more patriotic sentiment, adding, “My belt is important for my country.”
The clip has gone viral across combat sports circles, and captures White’s reaction perfectly – a mixture of surprise and perhaps uncertainty about how to respond to such an unvarnished statement about the organization’s most prestigious symbol.
Chimaev has built his reputation on both his overwhelming combat style and his unpredictable personality outside the cage. Even Max Holloway was left in awe as he watched Khamzat Chimaev dominate Dricus Du Plessis during their UFC 319 middleweight title fight in Chicago.
The former featherweight champion, known for his own record-breaking striking numbers, was surprised at Chimaev’s ground-and-pound skills/
He also joked that Chimaev his own UFC record for most significant strikes landed might soon be broken. “He gonna beat me for the most significant strikes landed,” Holloway remarked. “He gonna have a thousand, and no one’s ever going to beat him.”
Whether this interaction affects Chimaev’s relationship with White and the UFC leadership remains to be seen.
