Charlie Sheen opens up on experiences with TRT

In a conversation on The Joe Rogan Experience, Charlie Sheen revealed how testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) played a significant role in his highly publicized 2011 meltdown.

During the podcast, Sheen openly discussed his experience with TRT cream, admitting he was using far more than the recommended dosage. “There was a whole testosterone component as well that was out of just out of control because there you know what do they recommend like a quarter size dollop and like every other day and no, I there’s a line in the book where I say, I was I was slathering that s**t on like a f**king Ponds commercial,” Sheen explained.

The actor’s revelation adds a piece to understanding the infamous “winning” and “tiger blood” era that dominated headlines. When combined with co**ine use, the excessive testosterone created what Sheen described as “the worst kind of reinforcement” – a dangerous cocktail that fueled his public outbursts.

Rogan highlighted the risks of TRT cream application, sharing a concerning story about a father whose child experienced premature development from accidental exposure to testosterone through skin contact.

Sheen’s honesty about his TRT misuse provides context for what many viewed as purely c**aine-related behavior. The testosterone, he explained, contributed to an aggressive, bullying energy that was completely foreign to his personality. “I was being a bully. It had a bullying kind of energy about it, you know, and I’ve never been that guy,” he reflected.

The conversation also touched on how the combination affected his professional relationships, particularly with Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre. Sheen acknowledged that the testosterone and co**ine created a false sense of confidence and righteousness that led to his very public attacks on colleagues and the show itself.

Looking back with seven years of staying clean, Sheen can now see how the TRT abuse, combined with other s**stances, created a perfect storm.
