Charles Oliveira Slams Paulo Costa

Charles Oliveira recently had enough  of fellow Brazilian Paulo Costa trash talk. Costa talked plenty about  him on social media. The former UFC lightweight champion finally hit back at the fellow Brazilian athlete.

UFC middleweight Paulo Costa has been stepping up his social media game and is popular among UFC fans for sharing memes and making fun of fellow UFC athletes. And fellow countryman Charles Oliveira is no exception.

Ever since Oliveira missed weight in May, Paulo Costa wouldn’t stop ridiculing him, especially on Twitter. On the night where Oliveira missed the weight for UFC 274, Costa made fun of him by calling him ‘overweight’.

“Good night overweighted people.” Costa wrote.

Even after Oliveira won the fight against Justin Gaethje, Costa continued to mock him. The 31-year-old mocked Oliveira and said he is going to make weight at 170 pounds.

“I’m on my way to make 170 lb Charles, I hope you make weight next time.” Costa wrote.

He also posted a hilarious picture of Oliveira and Islam Makhachev with their faces swapped.

These are all even more hilarious knowing that Costa had one of the biggest weight misses in the UFC. In October of last year, for his fight against Marvin Vettori, ‘Borrachinha’ showed up around 30 pounds over the limit during the official weigh in session.

Thanks to that, he received a lot of criticism and the UFC president Dana White was hugely pissed off. The fight continued as a light heavyweight bout, but the 31-year-old had to give 20% of his purse to Vettori. Costa lost via unanimous decision after fighting for 5 rounds.

Charles Oliveira finally addressed Costa for the constant insults he received. During an interview with ESPN Brasil, ‘do Bronx’ can be seen quite irritated when being asked about Costa. He also mentioned Costa’s weight miss.

“Borrachinha is doing his thing. Doing a lot of bullsh*t and talking sh*t about other fighters. A guy who doesn’t make weight by 6-7kg wanting to talk sh*t on social media. And since he talked about me, I’m going to talk about him as well. He doesn’t know sh*t about my weight and about me. And keeps talking sh*t on Twitter.”

“I think we have to look at ourselves and then think about talking about others. But he keeps talking about a lot of nonsense and doesn’t do anything, right? He arrived there as a black belt “big guy” but got finished by a white belt.” Oliveira said.

After defeating Gaethje, Oliveira is set to fight over the vacant lightweight belt. However, there hasn’t been any confirmation about which fighter he is going to face. As for Costa, he is set to fight UFC veteran Luke Rockhold in August.
